Conveyancing Assistant - Northampton

We are seeking to recruit a Conveyancing Assistant to our Residential Property team in our Northampton Office.

The successful Conveyancing Assistant will work alongside an experienced fee earner in a busy conveyancing environment.  You will assist on a full and varied caseload of freehold/leasehold sales & purchase, re-mortgage, transfers of equity, right to buy and shared ownership schemes from start to finish

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Dealing with queries raised by clients, solicitors, lenders and estate agents, whether face to face, by telephone or by email.
  • Making detailed attendance notes of all correspondence
  • Opening and closing files on our CMS
  • Taking Client instructions, carry out AML checks, source of funds and gifts checks etc.
  • Ensuring files on CMS are updated with all correspondence.
  • Applying GDPR and SRA regulations, following Lexcel and firm procedures.
  • Administrative support (including photocopying and scanning etc)
  • Preparing quotes to clients
  • Drafting completion statements
  • Requesting mortgage redemption figures and mortgage advances
  • Assist Fee Earner in preparing report on title, report on mortgage and search report for clients
  • Issuing sale contracts
  • Replying to sales enquiries on freehold and leasehold properties
  • Ordering searches online
  • Setting up completions
  • Post completion admin (Drafting AP1s, Using Land Registry portal to submit registration applications, reply to requisitions, Generate Stamp Duty Land Tax calculations and submit applications)
  • Preparing and submitting invoices, receipts and payments to the finance team
  • Occasional reception cover

 

Requirements for this role include:

  • A previous background in a conveyancing department
  • Proficiency in English and good numerical accuracy
  • Excellent administrative and organisational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple activities and work under pressure
  • A positive, professional and approachable demeanour
  • Excellent work ethic and attention to detail
  • Good IT skills; knowledge of a Case Management System and excellent keyboard skills
  • Outstanding communication

 


  • Hours: Full time - Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 17:15
  • 26 days holiday plus bank holidays
