HCB Widdows Mason is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Paralegal to join our Special Educational Needs (SEN) team within the Education Law department. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about supporting families and students in navigating the complexities of education law, particularly in relation to special educational needs.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting clients with queries regarding SEN matters and providing legal support.
- Conducting legal research on SEN legislation, policies, and case law.
- Drafting legal documents, including letters, appeals, and educational health care plans (EHCPs).
- Supporting solicitors in preparing cases for hearings, tribunals, and mediation.
- Monitoring and managing case files while maintaining accurate records.
- Providing clients with regular updates on progress and case developments.
- Collaborating with educational institutions, local authorities, and other stakeholders as needed.
Requirements:
- Performing general administrative tasks to support the team.
- This is a fee earning role so being able to manage your own caseload will be imperative.
- Experience or knowledge in education law, particularly regarding SEN.
- Strong research and analytical skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple cases and work efficiently under pressure.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Attention to detail and a commitment to client care.
